KOROLYOV, Moscow region, August 2 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Progress cargo spacecraft, which is approaching the International Space Station (ISS) by the acceleration scheme, has successfully docked with the ISS automatically.
“At 5.18 a.m. Moscow time the Progress-M16M has docked with the Pirs module automatically,” the Moscow region’s Mission Control Centre told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
The Progress spacecraft carried over 2,600 tonnes of different cargoes, including foodstuffs, water, sanitary and hygiene facilities, fuel, different equipment and presents for the crew. In addition, the spacecraft also delivered a fermenter with mycorrhizal fungi and boxes with cell cultures for biotechnological experiments.
The spacecraft includes presents from psychologists and space couturier, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as confectionaries and other candies.
The 32nd expedition is now working on the ISS, involving Russian cosmonauts Gennady Padalka, Sergei Revin and Yuri Malenchenko, as well as NASA astronauts Joseph Acaba, Sunita Williams, and Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide.
