KHABAROVSK, July 31 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russian emergencies ministry’s administration in the Far Eastern Khabarovsk region has issued a warning about possible floods after heavy rains that caused a dramatic water rise in local rivers.
According to the emergencies administration, more than 10 settlements might be flooded in the Lazo district on August 2 to 3. People are recommended to pack valuable belongings and documents and be ready for possible evacuation.
Water is rising in the rivers Tunguska, Matai, Kur and others.
“Round-the-clock monitoring of water levels in the local rivers has been organized. Local residents are informed about the situation via loudspeakers installed in settlements and by local radio,” a spokesman for the Khabarovsk territorial emergencies administration said on Tuesday.
