Wildfire situation in Siberian regions improves

On Tuesday alone, eleven emergencies ministry’s aircrafts made 94 discharges of a total of 1,261 tons of water

MOSCOW, July 31 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s emergencies ministry reports about the improvement of the wildfire situation in Siberian regions.

“Thanks to a wide-scale use of aircrafts, the situation in Siberia has improved,” a ministry spokesman said. On Tuesday alone, eleven emergencies ministry’s aircrafts made 94 discharges of a total of 1,261 tons of water. “In the Tomsk region, the ministry’s aircrafts made 90 flights to discharge 1,093 tons of water on forest fires,” the spokesman noted.

The ministry’s air fleet in the Tomsk region includes Mi-28 and Mi-8 helicopters, three Ilyushin-76 planes and four Be-200 amphibious aircrafts.
