BARNAUL, July 31 (Itar-Tass) — A magnitude 5 earthquake hit the Altai Republic, but caused no damage or casualties, the regional emergencies situations department reported.

Earth tremors were registered at 02:30, Moscow time, 23 kilometers southwest of the village of Aktash.

"The fifty-kilometer earthquake zone includes the settlements in the Kosh-Agach and Ulagan districts," the department said.
