Tajik authorities restrict access to BBC website and Vesti.ru

The Tajik authorities have resumed the practice of blocking independent Internet news resources

DUSHANBE, July 31 (Itar-Tass) — The Tajik authorities have resumed the practice of blocking independent Internet news resources. The republic has restricted access to the websites of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and the Russian television channel Vesti.ru.

The access to the websites has been blocked on instruction from the government communications service. At the same time, independent sources link restricted access to the website with alternative interpretation of the latest events in the Tajik Badakhshan which is radically different from the official version.

Over the past two years the government service regularly restricts access to news Internet resources, which give wrong coverage to the events in Tajikistan.
