MOSCOW, July 30 (Itar-Tass) —— The area of forest fires in the Tomsk Region decreased by almost 2,000 hectares over the past day, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry's regional department told Itar-Tass on Monday.
There are 32 forest fires in ten districts of the region, on the total area of 8,002 hectares, 1,874 hectares less than the previous day, according to the reports of the Tomsk air forest guard base.
Nine fires on 2,492 hectares are localized, a press service source said.
One blaze broke out on 30 hectares on Sunday. Forest firefighters extinguished three fires on 2,580 hectares.
The strength of the fire fighting force is increased to 1,602 people. Twenty aircraft are used in the operation, twelve of them of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, including four Be-200 and three Il-76 planes.
There is no threat of blaze spread to residential sites, the source said.
Nevertheless, the high fire hazard situation will remain in many districts of the region.
Due to the complicated weather conditions -- the heat, no rains and the hard fire situation, smoke plumes may spread everywhere in the Tomsk Region. It will be hazy in some areas in the daytime on July 30, the regional emergency department warns.
