BUCHAREST, July 30 (Itar-Tass) —— Most Romanians voted for the resignation of President Traian Basescu at an impeachment referendum on Sunday. However, the president will stay in power over a low turnout, which makes it possible to consider the voting invalid. The leading Romanian sociological services have made public these results of the exit polls, which were taken at the exit from the polling stations and were announced after the closure of the polling stations.

The exit polls showed that Basescu was supported by 86.9% of voters and 13.1% voted against him. The turnout has made 44% with over 50% required.
