KRASNOYARSK, July 29 (Itar-Tass) — Two IL-76 planes have arrived in Krasnoyarsk from Taganrog to suppress forest fires in the Krasnoyarsk territory, the regional department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry told Itar-Tass.

The aircraft will be fueled with water necessary for fighting the fire seats at the Yemelyanovo airport. An Il-76 plane can take on 42 tons of water.

“The plane crews will join the anti-fire operation in the Beryozovsky and Mansky districts of Krasnoyarsk on Monday. At present, they are preparing the aircraft for the mission,” the Emergencies Ministry went on to say. It added that the aircraft would also be used to liquidate huge forest fires in remote impassible areas in the northern districts of the Krasnoyarsk territory.

Eighty-eight fires are raging on an area of about 12,100 hectares, nine of which have been classified as huge. Most fires are erupting in the thick taiga forest far away from all roads.
