Planes, copters drop 1,110 tonnes of water on forests in Tomsk Reg

The ministry’s air group in the region includes 11 aircraft

MOSCOW, July 28 (Itar-Tass) — Planes and helicopters of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry have dropped 1,110 tonnes of water on forests on fire in the Tomsk region, the ministry’s press service told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

“The ministry’s air group in the region includes 11 aircraft. They made 99 flights and dropped 1,100 tonnes of water on forest hot spots,” an official of the press service said.

He said three Mi-8 helicopters equipped with buckets, the Mi-26 helicopter with a bucket, four Be-200 planes and three Il-76 planes were involved to put out fires.
