LONDON, July 28 (Itar-Tass) — The opening ceremony of the XXX Summer Olympic Games 2012 has kicked off at the Olympic Stadium in London.
The British capital hosts the Olympics for the third time - after organising them during the crisis of 1908 and 1948. And the right of the current competition, according to some experts, was handed over to London to reflect these services to the Olympic movement.
Almost three-quarters of the world’s population are expected to watch the current Olympic Games.
The most ambitious in the world competitions, which will end on August 12, will bring together 10.5 thousand athletes representing 205 countries, who will compete for over 302 sets of medals. More than 28 thousand British and foreign journalists will give coverage of the Olympic competitions billions of fans will be their audience.
