MAKHACHKALA, July 27 (Itar-Tass) —— Members of illegal armed groups were blocked in a private house in Makhachkala's suburbs overnight.
In response to the order to surrender, they opened submachine gun fire at law enforcement officers.
The counter-terrorist regime was imposed in the area of Dachnaya Street in the village of Alburikent at midnight, a law enforcement source in the republic told Itar-Tass.
There have been no losses among the law enforcers. The operation was suspended until the dawn. The negotiations with the gunmen for their surrender have resumed. The special operation is continuing.
According to earlier reports from Dagestan, masked attackers shot a 35-year-old teacher in the village of Chalyakh in the republic at about 23:45 Moscow time on Thursday. The madrasa teacher, Saidakhmed Imanov, died at the site.
A criminal case is opened over the crime. An investigation is underway to establish who committed the murder and to detain the attackers.
