Firefighters liquidate fire in Russia’s Kemerovo region

No casualties are reported

GORNO-ALTAISK, July 26 (Itar-Tass) — Firefighters have suppressed a fire that broke out at the Komsomolets mine in the town of Leninsk-Kuznetsky in the Kemerovo region earlier on Thursday, the press service of the regional Russian Emergencies Ministry department told Itar-Tass.

A commission is working at the mine to establish the fire causes.

A duty office received a fire alarm call at 05:20 Moscow time on Thursday. Seventeen rescuers from the paramilitary mine rescue unit and an emergency crew of the local fire-fighting garrison who arrived at the scene evacuated 263 miners from the mine. No casualties are reported.

According to preliminary estimates of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the fire covered an area of 15 square meters.
