MOSCOW, July 26 (Itar-Tass) —— New head coach of the Russian national football team Fabio Capello signed a contract with the Russian Football Union (RFS) on Thursday.

The previous Russian head coach Dick Advocaat left the Russian squad after the Euro-2012, which became a complete failure for Russia, as the Russian squad failed to qualify from obviously the easiest group at the European Football Championship. Meanwhile, before the Euro-2012 it was already clear that Advocaat will quit the Russian team after the championship.

Capello will hold the first match at the helm of the Russian squad already on August 15. Russia will play a warm-up match with Cote d’Ivoire in Moscow.

Capello began his career as a coach in Italy’s Milan in 1987. He also headed Milan in 1991-1996 and in 1997-1998. Then he worked in Real Madrid (1996-1997, 2006-2007), Italy’s Roma (1999-2004) and Juventus (2004-2006). The 66-year-old coach has worked until recently in the English national squad (2007-2012).
