Russia’s Izhevsk Car Plant launched on Wednesday production of the Lada Granta car make

IZHEVSK, July 26 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Izhevsk Car Plant launched on Wednesday production of the Lada Granta car make.

According to the director general of United Automobile Group, Alexei Alexeyev, investments in mastering the production of Lada Granta have made up almost 1.4 billion roubles. He said almost 10,000 people and 82 contractor organizations had participated. The enterprise plans to increase amounts of production of the new car make in order to stop producing by the end of the year outdated VAZ-2104 and Izh-27175 car makes.

By the end of this year, the plant expects to produce about 50,000 vehicles, of which Lada Granta will account for more than a half.

The total amount of investments in the development of the Izhevsk Car Plant and expansion of production will exceed ten billion roubles. Its development envisages production in the future of Renault and Nissan cars. The potential of the plant exceeds 300,000 vehicles.
