LONDON, July 26 (Itar-Tass) — In its preparations for the Olympic Games, London does not seek an up-to-the-minute impression, but thinks about the future, the president of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Dmitry Chernyshcnko, told Tass on Wednesday after the ceremony to hoist the flag of the Russian national team at the Olympic Village in London.
“It is very difficult to compare any city with London, which is one of the most beautiful and developed world capitals,” Chernyshenko said. “There is a lot we can learn here. For example the way London has managed not to change dramatically the city infrastructure for the sake of the Olympic Games. The management of such a complex mechanism as this giant city inspires respect,” he continued.
The head of the Olympic Organizing Committee hailed the work of security officers. “Work to check guests of the Olympic Games is done accurately, politely, without queues. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow will be the busiest days. Let us hope that the organizers will manage that well, let us wish success to our colleagues,” Chernyshenko added.
He said he would give the highest mark to London for its preparedness for the games. “Everything has been put in order there where there where construction was underway literally several weeks ago,” he stressed.
