KHABAROVSK, July 24 (Itar-Tass) —— Railway traffic was stopped on the Far Eastern Railway (FER) in the Tynda Region after the railway bed embankment was washed away as a result of a sharp water rising in the river Hansi, ITAR-TASS learnt at the corporative communications service of the railway. The destruction of the railway bed occurred at 00.58 Moscow time on Tuesday.
According preliminary data, some 100 meters of the embankment was washed away in one of the spans of the Tynda-Khani section. Moscow-Neryungri passenger train number 76 and Kislovodsk-Tynda passenger train number 98 were stopped.
Special trains were sent from the stations Khani and Yuktali to the site of the incident to restore the railway bed. A commission headed by FER deputy chief Pavel Demin went there to organize works on liquidating the effects of the incident.
