WASHINGTON, July 24 (Itar-Tass) —— US Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs Rita Jo Lewis has left for Russia to discuss the development of direct contacts between US states and Russian regions. As the US State Department reported on Monday, during the period until July 31, she will visit Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok.
As the US diplomatic department specified, Special Representative Lewis will meet in Russia with official representatives of the federal and local authorities, as well as leaders of the Russia business and scientific community to discuss issues of development of the US-Russian partnership at the level of cities and states which are of interest for them.
According to the department, this is the first visit of Rita Jo Lewis to Russia. Over the past two years, she familiarized herself with the implementation of a number of initiatives in different fields aimed at developing regional contacts of the United States with Brazil, China, India and South Africa.
