VLADIVOSTOK, July 23 (Itar-Tass) —— The specialists of the Russian consumer rights watchdog (Rospotrebnadzor) have found violations in the feeding at the children’s summer camp Mechta (Dream) in the Primorsky Territory. According to specified reports, 26 children and one adult fell ill with intestinal infection at the children’s camp.
The Rospotrebnadzor department in the Primorsky Territory told Itar-Tass that, according to the preliminary theory, fresh cucumbers caused the infection. The specialists stated that rotting cucumbers were used in the meals, as well as tomatoes without quality certificates. All bad quality products were dropped from sale.
All children, who were taken to the Nakhodka hospital with the symptoms of intestinal infection from the children’s summer camp Mechta, are in satisfactory condition, director of the health care department in the Primorsky Territory Vladimir Kuznetsov said. All infected people were taken to the infectious disease ward of the city hospital.
The criminal case was opened over massive poisoning of children at the summer camp Mechta for violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules that entailed a massive disease or poisoning of people through negligence.
A total of 350 children are vacationing at the summer camp. No more infected people were found. All of them will be staying under medical supervision for one more day.
