Mutko unable to decide on his nomination as president of RF Football Union

Besides, the minister commented on the upcoming appointment of Fabio Capello coach of Russia’s national football team

MOSCOW, July 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s Minister of Sports Vitaly Mutko is unable to make an independent decision on his nomination as a candidate for presidency at the Russian Football Union.

“I am working at the ministry of sports and cannot make decisions of the kind by myself,” he told audience of the Russia-2 television channel on Sunday. “We have the president of the Russian Federation, the prime minister, and it is their competence to decide such appointments where it is about combination of positions – that of the minister of sports and president of the Russian Football Union.”

Besides, the minister commented on the upcoming appointment of Fabio Capello coach of Russia’s national football team.

“Capello is very well known. We should realise we do not have much time for formation of a strong team. Already on September 7, the Russian team is playing with the team of Northern Ireland, and afterwards with the team of Israel. Thus, the chief coach should manage to know the Russian football and candidates to the national team,” he said.
