Investigators consider several versions of security services general’s murder.

Abdullo Nazarov was attached by a group of people as the general drove in his office car on Saturday afternoon to Khorog

DUSHANBE, July 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Investigators of Tajikistan’s security services, of prosecution and the police went to the Pamir to participate in probe into murder of the country’s Head of the State Committee for National Security Abdullo Nazarov, Tajikistan’s Deputy Head of the State Committee for National Security Mansurdzhon Umarov told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

“Abdullo Nazarov was attached by a group of people as the general drove in his office car on Saturday afternoon to Khorog /administrative centre of the Gorno-Badakhshan region in Tajikistan/,” Umarov said. Security officers who survived the attack said all of a sudden a strange car blocked the office car and as the car had to stop they pulled out the general and beat him to death.

The source did not name the number of security officers in the office car or the reasons why they had not used the weapon they were carrying. He said only that “prosecution will comment on their behaviour during the investigation.”

“The investigation is considering several versions of Nazarov’s murder, including terrorism, but a final decision will be made as the group is on the site,” Umarov said.

Abdullo Nazarov was head of Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security supervising the Gorno-Badakhshan region.
