DPRK offer new programme for Arirang show

PYONGYANG, July 21 (Itar-Tass) —— The DPRK has prepared a new program for Arirang - the world’s most mass sports and artistic performance registered with the Guinness World Records, Kim Kum Ryong, artistic director of this ambitious show, told reporters on Saturday.

This year, the show will being in Pyongyang on August 1 at the May Day stadium, which hosts 150,000 people.

He expressed confidence that the new production of Arirang "will contribute to the development of the world art." This year's performance, which will last for 80 minutes, will attract particular attention in the DPRK due to celebration of the 100th anniversary of the republic’s founder and first president Kim Il Sung.

The characteristic feature of Arirang is a "live screen" on the stands, which consists of multi-coloured signs, which are changed simultaneously. The performance involves almost 100,000 people, including well-known winners of international and national competitions, talented students and school pupils. They demonstrate to the audience large-scale epic scenes showing establishment of the DPRK, struggle of the people and army to create a "powerful and prosperous nation and the reunification of the country."

Many foreign tourists come to Pyongyang specially to attend this unique show, which was awarded with the highest award of the People's Republic, which is named after Kim Il Sung. The DPRK is happy to accept applications for viewing Arirang, which consists of songs and folk dances of the "Land of the Morning Silence," most complicated gymnastic and acrobatic tricks on the background of magnificent scenery and light effects. For foreigners, the ticket price is as high as 300 dollars.
