Russia may cancel visas for foreigners who travel to Russia for three days

Golodets said that several countries had introduced such rules

MOSCOW, July 20 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Vice-Premier Olga Golodets told journalists on Friday that a bill allowing foreign tourists to enter Russia without visas for a period of three days was in the making.

“We want to implement a program aimed at increasing tourist flows, including Russian tourists, schoolchildren and children in particular, as well as foreigners who will be able to travel to some cultural events in Russia for a period of three days,” the vice-premier said.

Golodets said that several countries had introduced such rules, which are also applicable in St. Petersburg and the Far East for the passengers of tourist cruisers. The vice-premier emphasized that the measure would help increasing the number of tourists to Russia.

“We hope to submit the bill to (parliament) somewhere in October this autumn,” the vice-premier said.
