MOSCOW, July 20 (Itar-Tass) — The Middle East international peace ‘quartet’ resolutely condemns Wednesday’s terrorist act in Bulgaria directed against Israeli tourists. The ‘quartet’ members (Russia, the United Nations, the European Union and China) are presenting their profound condolences to the families and relatives of the Israelis and of other people who were killed or wounded in this horrible terrorist act as well as to the people of Bulgaria,” the ‘quartet’ said in its statement posted at the Russian Foreign Ministry website on Thursday.

“The incident is an act of cowardice committed against innocent people, including children,” the statement said.

The ‘quartet’s’ members expressed the hope that the perpetrators would be found and face trial.

The ‘quartet’ supports all international efforts to help the Bulgarian authorities and other parties to investigate this crime.

“This terrorist act reminds us of the need to bring together all members of the world community for joint actions to avert terrorist activity wherever it can be conducted,” the statement went on to say.

The ‘quartet’ will continue its efforts to achieve comprehensive, fair and durable settlement in the Middle East where all people will live in peace and safety.

According to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, seven people, including five Israelis, died in the bus explosion in Burgas on July 18. More than 30 Israeli tourists were injured.
