MOSCOW, July 19 (Itar-Tass) —— Russians are not cancelling their trips to Bulgaria after the terrorist act at Bulgaria’s Burgas airport, executive director of the Russian Association of Travel Operators, Maya Lomidze, told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
“In general, the situation is normal. Russian tourists who arrive in Bulgaria take the fact that their planes land in Varna, instead of Burgas, calmly. There are no complaints. Although, we receive many calls from those who are only about to fly,” she said, adding that the bulk of the flights are due on Friday.
“The Burgas airport will be closed to 17:00. If it is opened after that hour, the situation will normalize tomorrow,” she noted.
In the mean time, the Bulgarian authorities have vowed to have taken all possible security measures at all airports across the country. There are no reports that foreign tourists are leaving Bulgaria before their trips expire, the Russian Tourism Agency said, referring to Bulgaria’s ministry of economy, energy and tourism.
