According to preliminary reports, Yakupov was gunned down near his home

MOSCOW, July 19 (Itar-Tass) — Deputy mufti of Tatarstan Valiulla Yakupov has been killed in Kazan. Spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee (SK) Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass that “he died of a gunshot wound in his car.”

According to preliminary reports, Yakupov was gunned down near his home.

“Criminal proceedings have been instituted over this crime under Article 105, part 1 of the RF Criminal Code (murder),” the SK spokesman said.
