KHABAROVSK, July 19 (Itar-Tass) —— Hot weather in the Russian Far East has exacerbated the fire situation in the region, with 12,9902 hectares of forests ablaze over the past 24 hours.

Forest rangers extinguished 15 of 40 fires and localised 12 in the Khabarovsk Territory, Yakutia, Amur and Magadan regions, and in Chukotka.

Yakutia is hit the worst with forest fires ranging on an area of more than 4,000 hectares. In the Khabarovsk Territory, over 600 hectares of forests are on fire. Seven forest fires are registered in the Amur region.

Since the start of the season, 1,930 forest fires has occurred in the Far Eastern Federal District, affecting an area of more than 303,000 hectares.
