PYONGYANG, July 18 (Itar-Tass) — North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un has been promoted to marshal, the military’s highest rank, the Korean Central News Agency said on Wednesday.

Earlier today the Korean Central News Agency said it was to make “an important announcement” at 12:00 (07:00 Moscow time). Last time the KCNA issued such a statement reporting on the death of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-il.

This news caused concern among the local reporters and South Korea’s stocks reacted to it. Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources made a statement saying that no signs of seismic activity that could confirm nuclear tests were registered north of South Korea.
