MOSCOW, July 17 (Itar-Tass) — UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan supports Russia’s proposal to extend the UN observer mission in Syria that expires on July 21, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told Itar-Tass on Tuesday after the talks that took place in Moscow on Monday.
“The situation concerning extension of the UN presence in Syria was discussed,” he said. “We consider that it plays a significant and constructive role in stabilizing the situation.”
“Kofi Annan also thinks this way and supports us and we need to take this occasion,” he said.
