Putin creates Economic Council under president

MOSCOW, July 16 (Itar-Tass) —— President Vladimir Putin has created an Economic Council under the president.

The Council is “an advisory body created for the purpose of preparing proposals on the main guidelines for Russia’s socioeconomic policy, ensuring the strategy and tactic of its implementation, and mechanisms for sustainable development and technological renovation of the economy”, the presidential press service said on Monday, July 16.

Officials from federal and regional governmental agencies, representatives of public, scientific and other organisations may be members of the Council.

For the purpose of carrying out its work, the Council will create working groups for the following fields: macroeconomic and financial policy; industry and infrastructure policy; social policy and HR development; regional aspects of the socioeconomic policy; development of international economic integration; national entrepreneurial initiative.

The Council will meet at least every quarter or more often if need be.

Putin will chair the Council. Appointed to the Council are Russian Minister of Economic Development Andrei Belousov (deputy chairman), presidential aide Elvira Nabiullina (deputy chairman), Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, presidential chief of staff Sergei Ivanov, and others – all in all 31 members.
