Over 5,000 servicemen to arrive in Krymsk to help clear debris after flood

KRYMSK, Krasnodar Territory, July 15 (Itar-Tass) —— More than 5,000 servicemen will arrive on Monday in the town of Krymsk in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Territory, to help local residents clear off debris after a recent devastating flood, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday during a meeting with Krymsk residents.

At a meeting with officials dedicated to the situation in the flood-affected areas, Putin urged to involve more forces to liquidate the flood aftermaths the soonest possible.

“It is necessary to help people in the truest sense of the word – to help them clear their homes and lands. We should enforce the group of servicemen to 5,000. It is vital to provide tents, meals, drinks and medicines for them,” Putin said.

Participants in the meeting told the president that 5,500 servicemen are to arrive here on Monday.

“It is necessary to pool efforts with the local authorities to determine the scope of work for them in order to use the man force most efficiently,” he noted.

Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov suggested that compensation payments for lost property should be increased. Putin promised to sign a relevant instruction to the government.

The president urged the region’s governor, Alexander Tkachev, to see to it that humanitarian aid was distributed more efficiently. He also asked to see what could be done to pay compensation to people who lost their cars but had no insurance policies.
