NIZHNY NOVGOROD, July 14 (Itar-Tass) —— A fire in the settlement of Mamontovo in Nizhny Novgorod region has been extinguished, a spokesman for the regional emergencies administration told Itar-Tass on Saturday.
The fire destroyed eight buildings (five dwelling houses, one cottage and two non-residential houses) leaving 11 people without shelter. They have been accommodated at a temporary accommodation centre.
The fire started at about 10:30 a.m. Moscow time on Saturday and initially consumed six houses. Later, a strong wind gust spread it to neighboring buildings.
The fire fighting operation involved 57 men and 20 units of hardware.
