MOSCOW, July 11 (Itar-Tass) — Russia should partially re-orientate trade to Asian markets, State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Alexei Pushkov said.
Speaking at a press conference devoted to the results of the spring session, Puskhkov said on Wednesday: “Europe receives 50 percent of Russian export. In general, historically Russia is a country what trade is orientated to Europe. All infrastructure, including gas and oil pipelines, railways, operate at the European direction.”
At the same time, the lawmaker said he is sure, “The Asian trend in our trade will be weighty.” “Europe survives the crisis. This is the beginning of the serious decline in Europe as the world centre of force,” he stressed.
“We have to partially re-orientate to Asian markets. Now sections of oil and gas pipelines are being pumped to China from Yakutia. Japan and South Korea will receive our gas at this direction. This is the long process. But the share of European trade will be reduced while trade between China and the Far East will increase,” Pushkov pointed out.
