MOSCOW, July 10 (Itar-Tass) —— According to specified data released by the Russian Investigative Committee the death toll from the inundation on the Kuban territory was 162, spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin said with reference to official data of the investigation.

The SK has corrected the data about the number of the victims of the tragedy it released earlier.

Earlier, a number of mass media outlets put the death toll at 170, which does not conform to reality, Markin said. The Russian Investigative Committee has the most authentic data at its disposal about the number of the victims because the investigating bodies carry out all the complex of investigative and procedural checks as regards the victims, Markin said.

According to information available by 7. 00 pm the overall death toll was 162, including three victims killed in Novorossiysk, eleven in Gelenzhik and 148 in Krymsk, the SK spokesman said.

Early on Tuesday the Investigative Committee said the number of the victims killed in Krymsk was 149, but specified reports released by 4.00 pm Tuesday said the death toll was 148. It was established that the body of one of the victims was counted twice by mistake when delivered to a forensic laboratory. The mistake has been corrected, the SK said.
