Navalany claims his e-mail was subjected to hackers' attack

Earlier, Navalny had filed a similar complaint to the Russian Investigative Committee (SK)

MOSCOW, July 10 (Itar-Tass) — Moscow police have opened an inquiry into a complaint filed by blogger Alexei Navalny who claims his e-mail was subjected to a hackers' attack, the press service of the Moscow Head Interior department told Itar-Tass onTuesday. At present, the fact of "an illegal intrusion" into Navalny's e-mail is being investigated, the source said. The blogger's information is being checked, involving corersponding operational and technical services of Moscow police, it said.

Earlier, Navalny had filed a similar complaint to the Russian Investigative Committee (SK). Its spokesman Vladimir Markin said that in accordance with the rules of criminal procedure Navalny's complaint was turned over to a corresponding police department.

On June 26 Navalny claimed that hackers broke into his e-mail, using computers and i-Pads confiscated during an investigation into a rally on Bolotnaya square in Moscow on May 6.

Markin dismissed Navalny's claims as not conforming to reality. The SK regards Navalny's claims as pressure and an attempt to discredit the investigation, he said. Any claims accusing the investigation of using confiscated property for illegal purposes will be given procedural assessment, the SK warned.
