Govt to invest additional funds for agriculture in 2012 - Shuvalov

The minister assured parliamentarians that after Russia’s WTO accession technology intensive industries and agriculture will be supported

MOSCOW, July 10 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s government will extend additional funds to support domestic agriculture, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov told a State Duma meeting that is discussing ratification of the Protocol on Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization.

“Yesterday we took a decision to extend additional budget funds for agriculture despite difficulties that we are now experiencing and although we are now only discussing the budget for 2013 and the upcoming three years,” he said adding that the funds will be injected in agriculture following Russia’s WTO accession.

Presenting the Protocol to parliamentarians Economic Development Minister Andrei Belousov said his ministry also proposed the government to increase the financing of the technology intensive programs.

“As for high technologies we have a package of the so-called federal programs to support the aircraft-making industry, shipbuilding and pharmaceutics,” he said.

The minister assured parliamentarians that after Russia’s WTO accession technology intensive industries and agriculture will be supported.
