Russia declares mourning on Jul 9

It will be a day of mourning all over Russia and in Russian representation offices abroad

MOSCOW, July 8 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree declaring July 9 a day of mourning in Russia over the tragedy in the Krasnodar Territory and the bus crash in Ukraine, which took so heavy death tolls, the Kremlin press service said on Sunday.

It will be a day of mourning all over Russia and in Russian representation offices abroad. The state flags will be lowered to half-mast. State television and culture centre are recommended not to plan entertainment shows for the day.

Funerals of some of the victims began in the Krymsk district on Sunday. The flood death toll is rising. According to the latest information of the Russian Interior Ministry's operational headquarters, 152 dead bodies were found, 139 of them in Krymsk.

A criminal case is opened on charges of causing two or more deaths through carelessness.

A three-day mourning is declared in the Pskov Region for the victims of the bus crash. Governor Andrei Turchak signed the corresponding decree, the regional administration press service said.

The bas crash occurred at the 119km of the Kiev-Chernigov road early in the morning on July 7. The Neoplan bus, which was carrying Russian pilgrims on the way from Velikiye Luki to the Pochayev monastery in Ukraine, crossed the other lane, ran off the road and overturned. Fourteen people died and 29 were injured in the crash. The bus was carrying 43 people.
