VLADIVOSTOK, July 6 (Itar-Tass) – Search is underway in the Sea of Okhotsk off the shores of Sakhalin for a passenger of a refrigerator ship, who got missing after the tiedown of two ships on high seas, sources that Yuzhno-Skakhalinsk coordination sub-center said Friday.
The missing person is Alexander Malukhin, a young staff member at the Pacific Research Institute. He was supposed to transfer from the Vostok Reefer refrigerator top the crab-fishing ship ‘Pacific Orion’.
However, he was never seen anywhere aboard after the tie-down was completed. The accident occurred on high seas at a distance of around 50 nautical miles to the southeast of Saskhakin’s coast.
The crews of both ships conducted an active search for the missing scientist for fifteen hours but it did not produce any reassuring results.
At present, the ships passing by the area of the accident are joining the effort, too. Reports on Malukhin’s plight have been sent out to all the ships and seacraft cruising the in the vicinity of Sakhalin’s coastline.
