PETROPAVLOVSK KAMCHATSKY, July 5 (Itar-Tass) — Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in the future it would be necessary to take into account all variants for connecting the Sakhalin Island with the mainland.
Commenting on his trip to the Far East on Thursday, Medvedev told journalists, “Now there are no decisions. I hope that we don’t wait for from me any reports that we will build this bridge.”
At the same time, the prime minister said, “There is such idea.” “In my view, this idea can exist. It would considerably change the life in Sakhalin,” he noted.
Medvedev stressed that this was a very expensive project. “Social consequences can be colossal. That is why in the future, I believe, it will be necessary to count all possible variants and all possible means how we can connect the mainland and Sakhalin,” the prime minister concluded.
