KRASNOYARSK, July 4 (Itar-Tass) — Over 2,500 musicians from 19 countries, including Russia, took part in theThird International Music Festival of countries of the Asia-Pacific region. More than 230,000 people visited concerts and other events organized on the festival’s sidelines, Elena Pazdnikova, the regional culture minister, said at a news conference devoted to the festival’s completion on Wednesday.
“I think that the Krasnoyarsk music festival of the Asia-Pacific countries has built bridges of understanding and creative cooperation among representatives of countries-participants,” Pazdnikova went on to say.
Pazdnikova thanked the Russian president, the Ministry of Culture, the Russian Foreign Ministry and other state organizations for their support to the project.
The 4th Krasnoyarsk International Music Festival will take place in 2014.
The 3rd International Music Festival of countries of the Asia-Pacific region was held in Krasnoyarsk from June 28 to July 4. It demonstrated a combination of traditional folk, classical and modern art. The program included music of various genres: concerts of chamber and symphony music, folklore songs and dances, indoor and outdoor theatrical performances, fine art exhibitions in public places, cinema runs and photo exhibitions, discussions by philosophers and art critics.
A ‘Universum Asia’ painting exhibition was just one of the cultual events held alongside with the music festival.
Painters from Japan, China, South Korea, Mongolia, the Republic of Buryatia, Khakasiya, Yakutia and Tuva worked in the outskirts of the Shushenskoye village in the Krasnoyarsk territory for two weeks and later put their works on display.
The mayor of Krasnoayrsk said in his speech at the opening ceremony that an international artistic outdoor contest was a vital event in the city’s cultural life.
It’s symbolic that the Third international music festival opened in Krasnoyarsk with an art exhibition. Krasnoyarsk is renowned for its school of painting laid down by Russian painter Vasily Surikov who was born in Krasnoyarsk, the mayor of Krasnoyarsk said at the exhibition’s opening ceremony.
Painters from Spain, France, Holland, Germany and other European countries attend outdoor events in Krasnoyarsk every year. Painters from Asia came to Krasnoyarsk for the first time.
