MOSCOW, July 3 (Itar-Tass) —— Some industrial enterprises may move to new Moscow, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Tuesday.
“We have a preliminary agreement to the effect. This does not mean that all the enterprises located in the industrial zones of Moscow will have to move there. They may choose between new Moscow and other regions,” he said.
Sobyanin stressed that the city must not lose its industrial potential.
“Moscow enterprises employ 0.5 million people, and that is a serious contribution to the city economy and budget,” he said. “Instead of environmentally dirty and inefficient jobs, new jobs should be created.”
“About 30 industrial zone projects will be ready this year. The owners will be fully aware of our plans and make their investment plans with these projects in mind,” the mayor said.
The Moscow city limits grew by 148,864 hectares on July 1, 2012. The city will stretch out to the west, the southwest and the south, mostly with territories located between Kiyevskoye and Varshavskoye highways and the big circle of the Moscow railroad. The new territory will reach as far as the Kaluga region with a land near Zvenigorod, Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye and the Skolkovo innovations center. In turn, the Moscow region received 1,357 hectares in the Kurkino neighborhood.
Starting from July 1, Moscow includes 21 municipalities: two city districts, Troitsk and Shcherbinka, and 19 towns and villages in the southwest, which have been a part of the Podolsk, Leninsky and Narofominsk districts of the Moscow region. Also Moscow blends some lands in the Odintsovo and Krasnogorsk districts of the Moscow region (Konezavod VTB, Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye and Skolkovo). The attached territories have about 232,000 residents.
