MINSK, July 3 (Itar-Tass) —— Belarus and Russia are prepared to ensure their military security by all the means at their disposal, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko declared on Tuesday at a parade of the Minsk military garrison held on the occasion of Independence Day.
"We are carrying on military construction with the aim to improve the potential of the Union State. A joint group of troops of Russia and Belarus has been successfully operating in the Eastern European region; a joint air defense system was created to defend our air borders," Lukashenko said.
"The participation of Russian soldiers and officers in our parade has become a good tradition. Personifying the unity of the people of the two countries, representatives of the Russian army are lined up today shoulder to shoulder with the Belarussian servicemen," Lukashenko said.
"Belarus is taking measures to create an integral and efficient system for its defense; and its Armed Forces have been brought to condition conforming to the new challenges and threats of the 21st century," Lukashenko declared.
