KUNASHIR, July 3 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in the Southern Kuril island of Kunashir. The premier's plane landed at Mendeleyevo airport.

It is the second visit by Medvedev to Kunashir. In November 2010, Medvedev, who was Russian president at the time, arrived in the Southern Kuriles for the first visit by a Russian leader to the islands. When returning from Vietnam, where he participated in the Russian-ASEAN summit, the head of state made a stopover in Kunashir for almost four hours. Medvedev then said he would visit the remote Russian islands again.
