The Prime Minister’s working day will begin with a visit to the All-Russia Children’s Recreation Camp Okean. Its construction began in January 1974 and the gala opening took place August 17, 1984.

A major fire destroyed most building on the camp in November 1993 and its restoration began in 1996.

The Okean of today is a comprehensive social and educational enterprise that runs a number of theme programs, like “Russia’s Young Leaders’, ‘Intellect’, ‘A Business Express’, or ‘My Federation’. All of them aim to develop a spirit of leadership, creativity and intellectual potential of adolescent Russians aged eleven to seventeen years old.

Upon completing a tour of the Okean, Medvedev will take a ride on the Aeroexpress to the airport where from he will begin the next leg of his working trip to the Far-East. Before boarding the jet, he will inspect the international terminal of the Knevichi airport.

His next destination is Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the administrative center of the insular Sakhalin region where he will lead a conference on the social and economic development of the region and will get familiarized with a number of infrastructural facilities.

Medvedev visited the region last time in November 2010 when he held the office of Russia’s President. He then made a trip to Kunashir, one of the islands of the Southern Kuriles chain.
