MOSCOW, July 2 (Itar-Tass) —— The chairman of the Council for Civil Society Development and Human Rights /SPCh/ under the Russian president, Mikhail Fedotov, urged his colleagues not to leave the Council because of the draft law on non-profit organisations submitted to the State Duma.
“I hope that my colleagues will not resort to such form of pressure as withdrawal from the Council,” Fedotov said on Monday, July 2.
The Council called for putting the draft law to public discussion.
Four members of the Council have submitted letters of registration following the submission of the draft law that gives Russian non-profit organisations (NPOs) engaged in political activities and using foreign funding the status of “foreign agents” and that can enter into force in October or November of this year.
