MOSCOW, July 1 (Itar-Tass) — Kaluzhskoye Highway on the territory of “new” Moscow will be widened to eight or ten lanes, Deputy Moscow Mayor Marat Khusnullin told reporters on Sunday.

According to him, reconstruction of the highway has been planned, and already by the end of this year construction workers will begin preparation of the ground, while the “active construction” phase will begin in 2013. Up to six road junctions will be built.

Moreover, specialists now design its connection with Kievskoye Highway. Moscow’s Leninsky Avenue will be the next step. It will have practically no traffic lights in the future. Besides, reconstruction of Moscow’s Varshavskoye and Kashirskoye highways will be completed this year, Khusnullin noted.

The Moscow authorities also consider repair work at some railway-crossings and design the road connecting Solntsevo and Vidnoe via Butovo. These are Moscow’s districts situated outside Third Ring Road. The Moscow government also works with railway specialists to increase the capacity of the Kiev and Smolensk railway directions, the official said. According to the deputy mayor, construction of the road to the Skolkovo Innovation Centre is in full swing.

Besides, it is planned to extend the Sokolniki metro line to Solntsevo. This section may be commissioned already in 2014.
