GENEVA, June 30 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov considers mistakable the attempts to use the Geneva conference on Syria in order to promote the Syria Group of Friends goals.
“If certain partners believe that what has been done today can be used to promote the goals, which are set within the Syria Group of Friends, is a mistake. Otherwise, we cannot reach agreement,” Lavrov said after the Geneva conference on Syria on Saturday.
“We want the opposition to be united on the platform for being ready for a political dialogue as the Kofi Annan Plan demands. That is why we will be ready to take part in the meetings, which will continue in order to unify the opposition on a constructive political platform,” the Russian minister stressed.
At the same time, he added that Syria Group of Friend could have a positive impact on the work of the Action Group.
