YEKATERINBURG, June 29 (Itar-Tass) —— About 2,000 persons are searching for an Antonov An-2 plane, which disappeared in the Urals three weeks ago, the Sverdlovsk regional emergency situations department told Itar-Tass on Friday.
The search parties have found fragments of another An-2, which got missing six years ago, and a Mil Mi-8 helicopter, but there are still no signs of the wanted jet.
The weather has brightened, which allows aerial monitoring and land search, department spokesman Valery Gorelykh said. Some areas are being searched again.
The plane carrying twelve passengers took off without permit on June 11. The search is underway in the Khanty-Mansi autonomous district, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan and Tyumen region.
A criminal case was opened on the counts of a breach of air transport security causing two or more deaths by negligence.
