Gazprom ready to consider additional financing of Ukraine to fill underground storages

Underground storage facilities are being filled with gas; that is an extremely important question, Alexei Miller said

MOSCOW, June 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Gazprom is ready to consider additional financing of Ukraine for pumping gas into underground storage facilities, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said on Friday.

Underground storage facilities are being filled with gas; that is an extremely important question, he said. “We are concerned over the filling rates and Ukraine’s taking of a large amount of gas from storages last winter,” he noted.

If the storages are not filled, there will be two options, both of them bad: either Ukraine illegally takes Russian gas dispatched to Europe or it limits gas supplies to domestic buyers, he said.

“The filling of gas storage facilities should be a matter of public discussion both by Russia and by Ukraine,” Miller said.
