An-24 with malfunctioning engine makes emergency landing

IRKUTSK, June 29 (Itar-Tass) — An 24 plane with 44 people aboard made an emergency landing in the Irkutsk Region when one of the plane engines malfunctioned. Nobody was hurt, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry's regional department told Itar-Tass.

At 11:36 local time on Friday, an officer on duty received a report that one of the engines of an An-24 malfunctioned after the plane left the airport of the city of Bodaibo for Irkutsk, a press service source said.

The crew decided to return to Bodaibo. The plane landed safely at 11:46. Nobody was hurt, the source said.

The An-24 belongs to the IrAero airline.

An inquiry into the incident is launched.
