GROZNY, June 28 (Itar-Tass) — Police in Chechnya had detained a 19-year-old woman residing in the North Caucasian region of Kabardino-Balkaria who has been recruited for committing a terrorist act in Dagestan, also a North Caucasian region.
Chechnya’s Interior Ministry said Wednesday the data on the woman came from the Main Department of the Russian Interior Ministry for North Caucasus.
“The operative data suggested that the girl had boarded a regular bus bound for Dagestan,” the source said.
As a result of a timely started search, police operatives in Grozny managed to identify and detain the woman.
She had on her some extremist booklets and a post-mortem note addressed to her family members.
The woman denies any wrongdoing on her part, claiming she for going to Dagestan to enroll for an Islamic college.
She also told the operative that upon arrival in Dagestan she was supposed to be met by a woman whom she had never seen before.
The girl claims no one of her relatives had any idea about her plans.
The detainee has been taken the Grozny’s central police office. She will be turned over to the officers of the Russian Interior Ministry’s Center for Counteraction to Terrorism.
